It is with great sadness that we mourn the death of Rene Padilla. Rightly known as the ‘Father of Integral Mission’ Rene has had a profound impact on the evangelical understanding of the Gospel and outworking of mission.

His courageous and prophetic plenary speech at the Lausanne congress in 1974 was a turning point for evangelicals worldwide and established his credentials as a voice for the Global South, influencing western evangelicals including John Stott to embrace an integral or holistic understanding of the Gospel and reject the dichotomy between evangelism and social action.

Rene lived out this message, serving and ministering among the poor of Latin America throughout his lifetime while continuing his prophetic ministry. A man full of grace and wisdom, with a delightful sense of humour, he will be greatly missed by both family and friends.

Join us as we pray for his family as they mourn his departure, but also rejoice for a life of service and sacrifice wholly devoted to God’s reconciling purposes. Well done good and faithful servant!
