BSc (Hons), Dip. in Mission Studies (All Nations), PhD (Microbiology - OU).
Online - September │January │April
If you are heading for cross-cultural mission service and need some flexibility in your studies, then our 13-week online mission training course is for you. Or maybe you would simply like to know more about mission and wish to explore God’s will for your life.
Explore is a 13-week online programme that provides a foundation for cross-cultural mission service. It has been taken by over 250 students in 34 different countries!
As part of an online community, you will participate in an interactive course written and facilitated by a training team who have current mission experience. After the first week of getting to know one another, the journey takes you through the four, 3-week modules:
1) Who am I?
2) What is mission?
3) Culture and living in community
4) Integral mission
The course will provide you with a biblical foundation for your life and ministry. Examining the issues of effective teamwork and how to develop and maintain healthy relationships will also be studied. You will gain a deeper understanding of culture, current trends in mission and the effects of transition, enabling you to relate and integrate more easily across cultures. A variety of tools will be provided throughout the course including programme planning and management.
The course material is delivered through a repeating weekly pattern of 3-5 online lessons and a forum discussion that you contribute to by the middle of each week. You will develop a sense of community and deepen your learning through commenting on each other's 'posts'. Answers to questions asked in the lessons are recorded in a downloadable weekly workbook. You will be assigned a personal online tutor who will comment on your workbooks and journey with you. We will meet as a group 2-3 times during the course via Zoom to share and encourage one another.
There are no prior academic requirements for Explore. Those who are confident in expressing themselves in written English will benefit most from the course. An indication of the level of English we advise is an IELTS score of at least 5.5 in Reading and Writing.
The All Nations Explore certificate.
Explore runs three times a year so you can begin in September, January or April in any academic year. You will need to commit to about 7 hours of study per week.
'Spot-lites' are additional 1-week specialist topics that can be taken at the end of the explore course. Topics currently available are: 'Language Learning' and 'Living as a Family Cross-Culturally'. These can be taken for £49 per topic, with a 10% reduction if participants sign up during the application stage.

I recommend this course for those who are beginning to explore the Mission of God in greater depth. Though not residential, the course includes regular online community learning, providing a sense of belonging and the real challenge and richness of learning with others. The course curriculum is well thought through. It demands personal reflection, real application and covers a wide range of very relevant issues.

Explore is excellent! It fills the gaps in knowledge, even for mature Christians with little experience of cross-cultural mission issues. As well as learning, students appreciate the on-line community and mentoring aspects. Studying at home is a bonus as our applicants juggle with family life and a full-time job.
