May 2016

On the 12th May a group of All Nations students packed up the college car and set out for the white cliffs of Dover, en-route to the great, Dutch Pentecostal gathering known as ‘Opwekking’.

Opwekking is held in the grounds of Walibi theme park in Biddinghuizen, Holland. Each year up to 55,000 people attend the conference at any one time over the weekend and there are around 20,000 campers on site! It is safe to say that Opwekking is an exciting event where many Evangelical Christians and friends gather to celebrate Pentecost, worship, learn, and delight in the fun and community together!

The gift of the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost and the disciples received the Great Commission to “go.”

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”’

Matthew 28: 18- 20

Therefore it only seemed right that All Nations had a place in their ‘Mission Plaza’ which was situated at the heart of the Opwekking site as a main feature of the whole event! It was encouraging to see and meet people among the different stands who were passionate about mobilising people for mission through their different causes.

Each day the All Nations team would begin in prayer and it was amazing to be a part of what happened as a result. So many people engaged in conversations with us, and many were encouraged to hear that All Nations could provide them with valuable training for working and living and witnessing in cross-cultural environments.

This year was the second time that All Nations took a stand to the Opwekking event, and we look forward to making it an annual event.
