Encounter

Encounter is a short, introductory course that can be taken by studying online for 20 hours over 4 weeks, either as a group or individually. The course covers the basics of cross-cultural mission through a series of online lessons and workbooks that are commented on by a member of the All Nations training team. What is Encounter?

Encounter is a short course that lays a foundation for the understanding and practice of cross-cultural missions in any context, home or abroad.

The course topics are built around 3 key questions:

  1. What is mission?

  2. Why get involved in cross-cultural mission?

  3. How can I work well with those from other cultural backgrounds?

There are also four cross-cutting themes that run throughout the course to help focus the learning. These are:

  1. Biblical Foundations

  2. Cultural Awareness

  3. People Skills

  4. Practical Issues

Encounter will give you the tools to make the most of a short mission trip.

What Encounter is not...

  • A substitute for in-depth training for longer term mission service if you intend to be serving abroad for more than 6 months.

  • An accredited, academic course

What are the entry criteria?

There are no prior academic requirements for Explore. Those who are confident in expressing themselves in written English will benefit most from the course. An indication of the level of English we advise is an IELTS score of at least 5.5 in Reading and Writing.

What qualification will I get?

The All Nations Encounter certificate.

How is the online course delivered?

The course is delivered through lessons, discussion forums and a downloadable workbook.
