As an ecclesiology, multicultural church is attracting the attention of more and more researchers and writers, with an increasing number of churches within urban contexts now self-designating as “multicultural”.
This course is particularly aimed at those wanting to explore the opportunities and challenges of ministry in a multicultural context. It is especially relevant for those already involved in an ongoing ministry within a multicultural church or engaged in ministry within a multi-cultural context. Participants will be enabled to study the multicultural church phenomenon in depth, and interact with and learn from those experienced in the area of multicultural ministry.
The threefold aims of the course are to analyse and investigate: 1) how the multicultural context influences forms of ministry and theological reflection; 2) how a multicultural context shapes the mission of a local multicultural congregation, with particular attention to issues of poverty, racism and inequality, and 3) the models and qualities of leadership necessary for the multicultural church."
Those accessing Advanced Short Courses will be provided with relevant reading materials and other information to enable their full participation in the course. Participants are expected to have a good level of English Language (equivalent to 7.0 IELTS) to participate in the course.
ASC participants are not required to complete an assignment and will receive a certificate of participation on completion of the course.
