Crucial Issues for Mission in Britain and Europe

2022 Dates TBC
Intensive Online

If you are involved in Christian mission in Asia, Africa or Latin America, you know that you will have to study the context if you are going to be effective.  So why don’t you need to do that if you work in Britain or Europe?

This module seeks to provide students with the tools to understand and evaluate their mission context, whether they are working in Leeds or Lisbon, Warsaw or Ware.  So, if you are a Brit or European working in another European country, a mission worker from North America struggling to make sense of the Old Continent, or a missionary from the Global South who is finding that not all Europeans are the same, this module will give you the tools to make sense of your context.

We will look at how the European peoples have forged their sense of who they are, both individually and as nations.  We will gain an understanding of secularisation, but also of how God is growing his church.  We will look at how population dynamics in general, and migration in particular, are transforming our communities, and the challenges and opportunities that poses for mission.  And we will look at the state of the church in Europe, Islam, the impact of Covid, and much more.

Those accessing Advanced Short Courses will be provided with relevant reading materials and other information to enable their full participation in the course.

ASC participants are not required to complete an assignment and will receive a certificate of participation on completion of the course.
