Why choose route 3?
If you are heading for cross-cultural mission service and have two or three years available for training then route 3 is for you

What is route3 ?
route 3 is the BA (Hons) Open University validated degree course. It is aimed at those preparing for long- term cross- cultural mission service and who appreciate the balance of practical and academic study. The first year of study is the foundational route 1 Certificate programme. The second year of study is the route 2 Diploma programme. In the final year of study you can benefit from studying modules such as religion and society, New Testament theology, issues in mission, contemporary Islam, a Biblical language option, specialist arts modules, advanced religions and a research paper in your chosen area of mission.

If you choose a pathway option this will continue in to your final year of study in one of the following areas:
Arts
Bible and Theology
Religions and Society
Development
All our modules are arranged into one of three categories. Personal Development, Bible and Theology and Intercultural. Within each category, you will find descriptions for each module on the route 2 Diploma programme.

You will also choose a church placement or practical ministry project, and benefit from a range of practical courses on offer. You will also be required to complete a four week supervised placement to gain experience in a cross-cultural environment.

Who leads route 3 ?

Sam is the undergraduate studies programme leader. He was born into a Christian family in Kerala, South India. After graduating in Physics he went to theological college, becoming an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. Sam is the author of The Samaritan Mission in Acts. He is passionate about preaching the Gospel alongside his teaching ministry.

What are the entry criteria ?

route 3 is an open access three year programme. Normally you should have a minimum of two ‘A’ level equivalents or relevant vocational experience. For those for whom English is not a first language, proof of English skills will also be required (IELTS - 6.0 or Cambridge Advanced at C grade or above).

It is possible to complete the route 3 BA Hons programme in two years providing you are in possession of an honours bachelor degree ( or equivalent) in any subject, or have 120 CAT points from an accredited Bible College. For this two year option those for whom English is not a first language will be required to have an IELTS score of 6.0 or Cambridge -Advanced C grade or above.

What qualification will I get ?
An Open University Degree in Biblical and Intercultural Studies

When can I start ?
route 3 begins late September to the end of June for each year of study.
