Why choose route 1 ?
If you are heading for cross-cultural mission service and have one year available for training then route 1 is for you
What is route 1?
route 1 is a one year foundation level certificate for those looking for an entry-level programme into cross- cultural mission. It is aimed at those who have little or no experience in cross- cultural mission but who are hoping to serve in some way. Should you choose this route you will benefit from studying subjects such as the Bible and mission , cultural orientation, global theology, world religions, pastoral studies, performing arts, communications, creative evangelism and cross- cultural life and work.
All our modules are arranged into one of three categories. Personal Development, Bible and Theology and Intercultural. Within each category, you will find descriptions for each module on this programme.
You will also choose a church placement or practical ministry project, and benefit from a range of practical courses on offer such as first aid, car maintenance and photography.
Who leads route 1?
Dr Paul Davies Dip HE, MA, PhD (Utrecht)
Paul is the route 1 programme leader. He worked with Latin Link for ten years in Argentina. He is the author of Faith Seeking Effectiveness: The Missionary Theology of Jose Miguez Bonino. He has a passion for Latin American theology and theology of mission.
Alongside Paul allnations teaching staff and visiting lectures contribute to the programme
What are the entry criteria ?
route 1 is an open access programme. Normally you should have a minimum of two ‘A’ level equivalents or relevant vocational experience. For those for whom English is not a first language, proof of English skills will also be required (IELTS - 5.5 or Cambridge Advanced at C grade or above)
What qualification will I get ?
The allnations route 1 Certificate in Biblical and Intercultural studies with Open University validation.
When can I start ?
route 1 begins late September each year and finishes the following June
Whilst it is a self-contained programme, many students joining us for the route 1 Certificate year will often carry through to complete the route 2 Diploma or route 3 BA Hons degree.
The Arts at this level are integrated in to the programme see Arts Pathway
