Ten Things You Didn't Know About allnations

1. Easneye, the name of the hill where we are placed, means 'water island' in Saxon - that is the beginning and end of your classes in Saxon!
2. There are 600 Saxon Warriors buried on the site - but they are quiet and don't bother us too much!
3. We have the prime meridian running through our nursery and one of our lecture rooms.
4. The house at Easneye was designed by Alfred Waterhouse who designed the Natural History museum - he also designed Darlington Town Clock but that's not as impressive.
5. The house was built and owned by the son of Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, the anti-slave and prison reform campaigner - he is the tall bloke on the left on the back of the £5 note.
6. C.T. Studd, the founder of WEC, stayed here at Easneye - by the way, he was a famous English Cricketer and missionary. Its like having Freddy Flintoff visit, except Freddy's not a missionary and C.T. lost the Ashes.
7. The film 'The Belles of St. Trinians' was filmed at Easneye.
8. allnations was made up of 3 different colleges which merged in 1971 - two women's colleges and one for men. Mixed missionary training was not even thought of back then.
9. 10 members of staff are ex-students - yes, they came back for more!
