Is Mission Training for me?
Doesn't everyone at Bible College have long beards, long hair and wear sandals with socks all year round?
Don't they all sing Graham Kendrick songs whilst strumming on a big folk guitar complete with a rainbow striped shoulder strap? (Our apologies Graham!)
Doesn't everyone go to Bible College because they want to become a Reverend and work in a church?
Isn't Bible College where people go and live like monks or nuns and have to get up before sunrise each morning to go to prayers and start their chores?
Isn't 'Mission' something to do with Robert de Niro and Jeremy Irons in the forests of goodness-knows-where trying not to get eaten by cannibals or have everything you own being burnt and destroyed by disgruntled and unappreciative 'natives'?
Is Theology not one of those subjects you do when you don't really know what you want to study and is a bit like philosophy in that you make it mean what you like - probably before you give up on deciding which career to go into and become a Religious Education teacher?
Not at allnations it isn't!
The allnations community is full of committed evangelical Christians who want to make Mission their lives, through actively going out on to the mission field or through supporting those who do.
Bible College, Theological College, Mission Training College, whatever you call it; at allnations you will find a vibrant and prayerful community of Christians from around the world that want to train in one of the best institutions in Europe for cross-cultural mission training and then make a difference. They want to make a difference to groups of people that have not yet heard of Jesus, His Gospel of salvation and what it means to be 'Christian'.
allnations offers a 'Head, Hearts and Hands' approach. We will give you intellectual training, spiritual training and practical training.
Theological studies are part of your training so that you can be effective and confident in speaking about the Bible as well as sure of your position when the awkward questions start to come your way. You will always receive this training from a cross-cultural missional perspective.
Understanding the spiritual aspects of your own faith is important in your preparation for Mission too and we will give you training in things like prayer, spiritual warfare, pastoral issues and how to avoid burnout.
Practical training in how to engage with someone of another faith or culture group effectively, be it through the Arts (we have a whole Arts pathway for those interested in using visual or performing arts in their mission practice), dealing with marginalised groups like criminals or the diseased or simply to begin understanding how to settle into life in another culture. Useful skills will also be taught that may one day come in useful like car mechanics or basic dentistry!
If you think God is calling you overseas or are exploring the possibilities of Mission as a vocation then allnations is one of the best places to begin your training. Take a look around the site, get a feel for what goes on at allnations, drop us a line and come for a visit. We're confident that if the mission field is where you are headed, allnations is one of the best places to start your preparation.
Mission is not just a speciality, it is EVERYTHING we do.
And yes alright - we might sing the odd Graham Kendrick song every now and then...
